Why do we do it? By Sean Stevenson

Why do I go to the gym? “Why join a gym when you can just work out from home“? (Home gyms are for Mothers who can’t afford to pay someone to watch their kids for an hour) So why, why join a gym? Here’s my reason: I joined a gym that way I can be inspired and motivated by others who share the same common interest as I do, and what interest is that? It’s getting fucking jacked. I want to be the biggest guy at my gym and not by a lot either because he who finishes the race by 5 miles leaves the rest in the dust but he who wins by 5 feet motivates those behind them to win by 6 feet at the next race. Treat your body like it’s a temple but also treat it like it’s a symbol: a symbol for excellence, a symbol for achievement, a symbol for perfection. Remember when you’re out in public that you aren’t just anyone else: you’re a walking talking symbol of motivation and that is why we do it. We do it because we want people to look at us and say to themselves “when was the last time my doctor checked my body fat percentage?” or “maybe I’ll leave the car in the parking lot and walk these groceries home instead”. We do it because when you see me pumping in the gym, it makes you pump harder and when I see you pumping harder it makes me tougher because at the end of the day we’re all a bunch tough guys making things rowdy for civilization, shaking up their infrastructure a little bit and pulling them out of their comfort zone for an hour or two a day. Stay motivated, stay productive, get jacked.
